#AMVCA2015 Full List of Winners - Kunle Afolayan, The Meeting, Sweep Awards

The winners of the #AMWCA2015 are now being announced at the Eko convention centre, they emerged based on the number of votes they have had in the past few weeks. Nominations for the third edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) were announced on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 and the voting poll started from then and ended on the 28th of February, 2015.

The Industry Merit Award was given to late Amaka Igwe, the notable producer/director whpo passed away last year. Kunle Afolayan and his cast and crew swept various acting and technical awards, as well as the cast and crew of The Meeting by Rita Dominic. In all, there are 27 categories, which cut across different areas of acting, directing, script writing, cinematography, costume and make-up and more. Family Time - Kunle Afolayan In Dubai With Wife And Kids For Christmas Vacation

Nollywood director Kunle Afolayan has just wrapped up a Christmas vacation trip to Dubai with his wife and three children. The bearded father and husband shared these pictures on Instagram saying that he enjoyed the time out a lot. He wrote;

Amazing holiday experience with my family. We shall do it again.

Celebrities Go Retro For Lagos Premiere Of Kunle Afolayan’s 'October 1' Movie

Kunle Afolayan, the cast, crew and selected guests turned out in retro styles at the world premiere of the “October 1” movie in Lagos last night! The movie will be in cinemas on the 1st of October 2014.

Dress code for the event was ’60s style, though some of the celebs simply did the old school look with seventies and eighties afros. Some of the guests include Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Nouah, Deola Sagoe, Sadiq Daba, Wale Ojo, Funke Akindele, Segun Arinze, Dakore Akande alongside the movie’s international cast and crew.

First Official Trailer of Kunle Afolayan's 'October 1' Movie

After just concluding prinicipal shooting just a couple of weeks ago, Kunle Afolayan and his production have been able to keep to their promise to release the first official trailer of the movie 'October 1' today being Independence day, October 1. According to the description on Youtube, the movie is "an African story told from African's perspective." I loved it, and think so far so good.

October 1 Movie - The New Movie By Kunle Afolayan

October 1 is an upcoming movie and is directed by Kunle Afolayan. The film began pre-production months ago, but they just concluded auditions and started shooting at the end of last month. RML has been able to get some details about those starring in the movie, and some behind the scene pictures.

They say good things come to those who wait. I watched Araromire on the HiBuzz app in December 2011 after making a payment of $7 in October and enduring a couple of months of the site's technical issues. Now Aroromire is free on youtube for all those who have been waiting for it, and some of us who can't wait to see it again.

The movie is one of the two best Nigerian movies - the other is Ije [review] - I've seen in the past couple of years. This is one of the reasons other Nollywood directors have a lot of work to do to catch up, this movie is amazing. The actors are on point, the story twists and trips keeps you guessing and tense for most of the film and the end is a very satisfying. From the blurb;

Araromire is neither good nor evil; for anyone that comes in contact with her shall flourish for seven years and for another seven years that follows, Araromire becomes wrathful, unleashing terror and destruction on whoever has her in custody.

While serving at a National Youth Service Corps camp, two friends find a mystical sculpture in an abandoned shrine in the forest, and one of them decides to take the artwork home. Unknown to them, the sculpture is the same from the Yoruba goddess Araromire.
